Mariners Land 15 on NECC Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team


MARSHFIELD, Mass. - A total of 194 student-athletes, including 15 from Mitchell College, were named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the 2019 spring semester.

Representing the Mariners were senior Peter Abate (baseball), sophomore David Appelbaum (baseball), sophomore Malik Chase (men's basketball), sophomore Hannah Corrigan (women's lacrosse), junior James Harland (men's lacrosse), sophomore Connel Henderson (men's basketball), junior Desmond Knowles (men's lacrosse), junior Gillian MacLellan (women's lacrosse), senior Kate McCormack (women's basketball & lacrosse), senior Adam Liudzius (men's lacrosse), senior Francesca Pinard (women's basketball & lacrosse), senior Domenico Santiago (men's basketball), sophomore Marissa Sweeney (women's basketball), sophomore Kaitlin Thibodeau-Corey (softball) and sophomore Roland Thivierge (baseball).

A total of nine Mariners were first-time spring honorees. MacLellan and Liudzius were repeat selections while Abate, McCormack, Pinard and Santiago earned the distinction for the third time in their careers.

To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball and men's tennis were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.
