Mariners Induct 12 New Members Into Chi Alpha Sigma

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College Department of Athletics has announced its 2023 induction class for Chi Alpha Sigma.

The Mariners added 12 new members to the organization, which is the first and only academic fraternity recognizing the athletic and academic achievements of college student-athletes. Joining the ranks were juniors Sarah Aviles (women's volleyball, softball), Jenna Bennett (softball), Christopher Bradley (men's lacrosse), Robert DelaCruz (baseball), Isabel Foley (women's soccer), Nicholas Forst (men's soccer), John Hayes (baseball, men's golf), Jessica Krupnikoff (women's soccer, women's lacrosse), Justin-Corey Le (men's soccer), Katelyn Lipsky (softball, women's cross country), Yasmine Santos (women's basketball), and Tessa Seesock (women's soccer).

The mission of Chi Alpha Sigma is to bring honor and recognition to deserving student-athletes, their families, teams, athletic departments and colleges. To be considered for induction student-athletes must be a junior with a 3.4 cumulative GPA, possess good moral character and must earn a letter in a varsity sport.

Mitchell is one of eight Chi Alpha Sigma chapters in Connecticut. The Mariners have inducted a total of 144 student-athletes since 2008 (see full list).

Three student athletes were also inducted into Phi Epsilon Kappa, which is a national professional fraternity for persons engaged or pursuing careers in health, physical education, recreation, or safety. Joining the ranks were John Hayes, AJ Marini, and Duncan Quinn.
