Mariners Place 27 on NECC Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team

MANSFIELD, Mass.- A total of 107 student-athletes, including 27 from Mitchell College, have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference team for the 2022-2023 Winter and Spring semesters, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

The 27 selections were the third most Mitchell has produced in the winter/spring semester in its 14 years as an NECC member. The softball team led the way with seven selections while baseball had six and women's lacrosse five, followed by men's lacrosse (four), men's basketball (three), and women's basketball (two).

Representing the Mariners were junior Sarah Aviles (softball), junior Jenna Bennett (softball), junior Christopher Bradley (men's lacrosse), senior Ahmani Browne (men's basketball), sophomore Shey Carrion (men's lacrosse), senior Tyler Daly (baseball), junior Robert DelaCruz (baseball), senior Aizhane Glenn (women's lacrosse), sophomore Keeano Gonzalez (men's lacrosse), sophomore John Hayes (baseball), senior Kenny Heon (baseball), senior Samuel Jackson (men's basketball), sophomore Noah James (men's basketball), junior Jessica Krupnikoff (women's lacrosse), junior Cole Lalli (baseball), sophomore Gemma Landry (softball), junior Katelyn Lipsky (softball), senior Samantha McKenna (women's basketball), sophomore Michael Marchetti (men's lacrosse), sophomore Emily Reynolds (softball), senior Rachel Ricciuti (women's lacrosse), senior Breana Rudolph (women's lacrosse), junior Yasmine Santos (women's basketball), sophomore Brooke Taylor (softball), senior Mariah Travisano (women's lacrosse), sophomore Brooke Whitmarsh (softball), and sophomore Bo Yaworski (baseball).

A total of 11 Mariners were first-time winter/spring honorees. Aviles, Bennett, Bradley, DelaCruz, Jackson, Krupnikoff, Lipsky, Santos, and Rudolph were repeat selections while Browne, Daly, Glenn, Heon, McKenna, Ricciuti, and Travisano earned the distinction for the third time in their careers.

To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference honors, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball and men's volleyball were eligible for the award.

As a conference, softball led the way with 25 honorees, with baseball coming in right behind with 24 honorees. Men's volleyball had the third-most honorees with 17 representatives. Men's and women's basketball had 14 and 10 honorees, respectively. Men's and women's lacrosse rounded out the selections with 15 and 5, respectively.
