Mitchell Takes Final Game Of Series Against John Jay

NEW LONDON, CT-- Mitchell College used three home runs and a complete game gem to take the last game of a three game series against the Bloodhounds of John Jay College, 12-1.  The Pequots dealt John Jay their first conference loss of the season improving their record to 13-8, 11-3 in the CUNYAC.  The loss puts John Jay at 13-11 on the campaign, 8-1 in the CUNYAC.

Mitchell rode the arm of senior left hander Sal Messina (Wolcott HS/Prospect, CT) who pitched a complete game three hitter allowing only one run.  Messina recorded his third consecutive double digit strikeout game with a season high 12 K's.  He also contributed at the plate going 2-for-5 with two RBI's including a solo home run in the 7th inning.

Hitting round trippers for Mitchell as well were junior shortstop Seth Nowakowski (Plainfield HS/Preston, CT),who drove in a team high four runs, and freshman first baseman Andy Langlais (Ledyard HS/Ledyard, CT) who had a pair of RBI's.

Senior second baseman James DeCesare (Moore Catholic/Staten Island, NY) got one of the three Bloodhound base hits and drove in their lone run.

Mitchell's next game will be at home against the US Coast Guard Academy Tuesday April 24th with first pitch at 4:00 PM.  John Jay travels to Mount Saint Mary's tomorrow Monday April 23rd for 5:00 PM start time.
