CHAPMAN AND MCGARRY NAMED CUNYAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NEW LONDON, CT -- Sophomore southpaw Jeremy Chapman (Oakdale, Conn.) earned the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row and third time this season. Chapman fired a complete-game six-hitter with one earned run and a season-best 12 strikeouts in a 9-1 victory over conference foe Lehman (April 26). On the season, Chapman has fired five complete games and notched 50 strikeouts in 45 innings of work.

Freshman John McGarry (Waterford, Conn.) found his way on the list for the first time this season as "Rookie of the Week". McGarry, in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, went 8-for-14 (.571) at the dish last week for the Pequots. In a doubleheader sweep of CUNYAC foe Lehman (April 26), he went a combined 6-for-8 with seven RBI and two extra-base hits (2B, 3B). McGarry also hit safely in a single contest against the Lightning (April 27), as well as versus Manhattanville (April 23; 1-for-2, SF).
