The NCAA recently announced that the Mitchell College baseball team has been named the 2011 NCAA Division III team statistical champion for Batting Average and Slugging Percentage. In addition, John Apostolo was named the 2011 NCAA Division III statistical champion for Runs Batted in Per Game and Slugging Percentage.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College fought its way to a pair of wins on Sunday at the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship, forcing a final game to determine the tournament championship that will he held later in the week. The Mariners defeated Daniel Webster College 16-8 in the first game to advance to the title round, and then handed Southern Vermont College its first loss of the double-elimination tournament by a 9-7 final in the nightcap.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Two games were played on Saturday at the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship at Mitchell College. The host Mariners outlasted Becker College to win a 15-12 slugfest in the first game, and Southern Vermont advanced to the title round on a walk-off homer in a 7-4 win over Daniel Webster College in the second.
