ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Rafael Garcia was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.

Garcia swung a hot bat and helped the Mariners to a 3-0 record last week, including two big wins over Lesley University in league play. The junior third baseman batted .700 for the week and had multiple hits in all three games, finishing with three doubles, a homer, five RBI and five runs scored while slugging 1.300 for the week. In the opener against Lesley he swatted two doubles and knocked in a pair of runs, and in the finale he plated three runs and drilled his first home run of the season.
