Griffin Nabs NECC Player of the Week Honors


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Garet Griffin was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday morning. 

Griffin batted a team-high .667 with a double, homer, seven RBI and seven runs scored last week to lead the Mariners to a 3-1 record. He hit safely in all four games to extend his hitting streak to 15 games. In a doubleheader sweep of Southern Vermont he went 6-for-6 with a double, homer, five RBI and four runs scored. He slugged 1.000 for the week and had an on-base percentage of .706.

It marked the fourth time this season that Griffin has been named NECC Player of the Week (February 27, March 13, April 3). He has played in 30 games and is batting a team- and league-high .505 with 35 RBI and 35 runs scored. He also leads the Mariners with five home runs and has hit safely in all but three games this season. 

Mitchell (25-11 overall, 12-4 NECC) will next play a doubleheader at Daniel Webster College today at noon.
