Pagan Named NECC Player of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Steven Pagan was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Pagan batted a team-high .529 with a double, triple, five RBI and five runs scored last week to lead the Mariners to a 5-0 record that included a conference sweep of Newbury. The Mitchell third baseman had multiple hits in four of the five games, including a three-hit day against Newbury in the series finale. He went 7-for-10 with four RBI and three runs scored in the series against the Nighthawks and walked three times. For the week, he had four stolen bases and slugged .706.

Pagan earns player of the week honors for the first time in his career. In 17 games this season he is batting a team-high .462 with 17 RBI and 15 runs scored. Earlier this year he had a 10-game hitting streak—the longest of his career—and has recorded a hit in all but three games.

Mitchell (15-2 overall, 5-1 NECC) will next host Amherst College on Wednesday, April 4 at 4 p.m.
