Hartenstein Tabbed All-American by D3Baseball.com

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College senior Kyle Hartenstein was one of 48 players who garnered All-America honors from the popular website D3baseball.com on Wednesday morning.

Hartenstein was named the second baseman on the All-America third team. An honorable mention selection in 2017, he becomes the first Mitchell player to ever land on a D3baseball.com All-America team.

The 2018 season marks the 12th year that D3baseball.com has named All-America teams, with over 800 players nominated.

The latest honor adds to an already impressive list of accolades for the senior co-captain. Hartenstein was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in his final season and earned all-conference honors for the third time in his career. Earlier this week, he was a repeat all-region selection by both D3baseball.com (first team) and the American Baseball Coaches Association (third team).

Hartenstein batted .390 with 33 RBI and 52 runs scored over 39 games in 2018. During the season he became Mitchell's all-time career leader in hits (233), runs (167), RBI (128), total bases (314), games played (158) and starts (158).

The Mariners finished with a 31-10 record this season that included a 15-3 mark in conference play. Mitchell won its sixth NECC title and competed in the NCAA DIII regionals for the fifth time, picking up its third postseason win since 2014.
