Baseball's Solimine Nabs Rookie of the Week Honors

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Ryan Solimine was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Solimine tossed a four-hit shutout and struck out six without issuing a walk in a conference win against a potent New England College lineup last week. The right-hander didn't allow a runner past second base en route to his second shutout and third complete game of the season.

Solimine, who earned rookie honors for the third time this season, has made eight appearances and is 6-1 with a 2.81 ERA. He leads the Mitchell staff with 51 strikeouts against only five walks in 48.0 innings pitched.

Mitchell (25-6 overall, 9-1 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Tuesday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m.
