Baseball's Jose Tabbed NECC Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Mitchell College junior John-John Jose was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday.

Jose batted .625 with two doubles, a triple, a team-high eight RBI and four runs scored last week as the Mariners went 4-0. He is the second Mitchell player to earn the distinction this season, joining teammate Anthony Stigler. It also marked the first time in his career that he's received weekly conference honors.

Jose hit safely and knocked in runs in all three games he played in, including a five-RBI game in the weekend finale against Nichols College. In that game he came off the bench to hit a clutch two-run double in the seventh inning to tie the game, and he later added a three-run triple in the 18-9 victory. Earlier in the series, he supplied a two-run single that snapped a 6-6 deadlock and plated the go-ahead runs in an 8-6 victory.

Mitchell (5-1 overall) will next play Anna Maria College on Wednesday, March 17 at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
