Driscoll Tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Daniel Driscoll was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Driscoll, a starting pitcher, made two appearances on the mound last week and went 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA over 10.1 innings. In his best outing of the spring, he tossed 7.0 scoreless innings against Wesleyan University in an 8-1 victory. He allowed only five hits and struck out a season-high 10 batters without issuing a walk. Earlier in the week, he got the starting nod and struck out two in 3.1 innings of work against Fisher College.

In six appearances and four starts this season, Driscoll has posted a 3-0 record with a team-low 1.13 ERA over 24.0 innings. The rookie left-hander also currently ranks second on the team in strikeouts (26).

Mitchell (14-6 overall, 1-1 NECC) will next host Anna Maria College on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m.
