Yaworski Named NECC Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College sophomore Bo Yaworski (Brooklyn, Conn.) was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of baseball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Yaworski earned the honor for the first time this season and a Mitchell player has now earned Player of the Week honors in four consecutive weeks.

The sophomore slashed .467/.500/.867 to help guide the Mariners to a 4-0 record on the week. Yaworski collected one double, one triple, and belted his fifth home run of the season, while driving in five runs, and scoring three times. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning against Anna Maria, he laced a go ahead two-run single into left field, giving the Mariners a lead which they would not relinquish. Yaworski delivered multiple hits in three of the four games Mitchell played during the week, including a 5-7 performance in a doubleheader sweep against conference foe Lesley University. He also played a stellar first base, making no errors in the field.

Yaworski finds himself in the top 10 among all players in the conference in batting average (.379), on base percentage (.491), slugging percentage (.663), home runs (5), RBI (33), runs scored (38), doubles (8), and total bases (63).

Mitchell (20-4 overall, 6-0 NECC) will next play on Tuesday, April 11, when they visit Wesleyan University for a non-conference matchup.
