Bio

Scott Heath enters his second season with the Mitchell College baseball program in 2018-19.

Heath spent the 2017 season as a pitching coach for the University of Maine—his alma mater—and helped the Black Bears to 25 wins and a berth in the title round of the America East Championship. Over the summer he also served as head coach of the Norsemen in the Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League, leading his squad to a championship in the league’s inaugural season.

A native of Westbrook, Maine, Heath was a four-year starter as a pitcher and first baseman/utility at Maine. He appeared in 186 career games for the Black Bears from 2011-15 and earned all-conference first-team status in his final two seasons. As a junior in 2014, he batted a team-high .361 and was named to the All-New England First Team and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association First Team. Following his collegiate career, Heath played a year professionally with the Joplin Blasters in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

Before Maine, Heath played baseball at Westbrook High School under coach Mike Rutherford. He was a three-time all-state selection and was named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2011.
