
Mariners Land 17 on NECC All-Academic Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - A total of 198 student-athletes, including
17 from Mitchell College, were named to the New England Collegiate
Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the
2013 fall semester.
Representing the Mariners were sophomore Savannah Boyle (women's
cross country), junior Bridget Burns (women's cross country),
senior Chenelle Campbell (women's tennis), senior Drew Castagna
(men's cross country), junior Jordan Cook (men's soccer),
junior Michael Edwards (men's cross country), sophomore Matt
Grudgen (men's golf), senior Chris Heller (men's golf),
sophomore Rich Lusk (men's soccer), senior John McGowan (men's
golf), junior Chris McKeon (men's cross country), senior Carly
Paterson (women's tennis), senior Michael Pinkerton (men's
golf), junior Breanna Poirier (women's soccer), sophomore Zack
Rocheleau (men's soccer), senior Zachary Simmons (men's soccer),
and senior Taylor Zaldivar (men's golf).
A total of nine Mariners were
first-time fall honorees while Cook, Heller, McKeon,
Paterson, Poirier and Simmons earned the distinction for
the second time in their careers. Both Castagna
and Zaldivar are three-time selections in their respective
sports.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete
must post a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a
scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing.
Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's soccer,
women's volleyball, women's tennis, men's golf and men's and
women's cross country were eligible for fall NECC
academic honors.
