MBB's Thomas Earns ROW Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second time this season, Mitchell College freshman Chris Thomas was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Thomas scored in double figures as Mitchell wrapped up its season against Lesley University and Becker College last week. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and shot 47 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.

Thomas, a forward/center, played in 18 games while making five starts in his rookie season with the Mariners. He averaged 6.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game and led the team with 18 total blocks. He was previously named rookie of the week on January 17, and his selection marked the fifth time in the past seven weeks that a Mitchell player has earned the distinction.

Mitchell finished the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 1-22 and 0-14 in NECC play.
