Men's Basketball Falls to Middlebury in Season Opener


BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Mitchell College men's basketball team opened the 2014-15 season with a 101-71 loss to Middlebury College on Saturday in the opening round of the Ramada Roundball Invitational hosted by the University of New England.

Senior Parris Hill led the Mariners with 22 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Junior Donavan McClean added 16 points in his Mitchell debut while classmate Frank Martin chipped in with eight.

Middlebury (1-0 overall) was led by the trio of Dylan Sinnickson, Hunter Merryman and Matt St. Amour, who combined to score 75 points. The Panthers shot 49 percent in the contest and held a 65-39 edge on the glass. 

Middlebury led 46-35 at halftime and outscored Mitchell 55-36 in the second stanza. 

Mitchell (0-1 overall) will take on Maine Martitime on Sunday at noon on the final day at the Ramada Roundball Invitational.
