Men's Basketball Claims First Win of the Season vs. MMA


BIDDEFORD, Maine – Senior Parris Hill scored a tournament-record 36 points to power Mitchell College to a 95-73 victory over Maine Maritime Academy in the consolation game of the Ramada Roundball Invitational hosted by the University of New England at the Harold Alfond Forum.
 
Hill, who was named to the all-tournament team, shot 16-of-27 from the floor for his career-high 36 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added six steals. Junior Donavan McClean contributed 30 points, making 13-of-24 from the floor, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc. He also added three of Mitchell's 19 steals. Junior Devonta Mosley came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-for-6 accuracy from the floor.
 
For MMA (0-2), sophomore Kyle Boucher paced four players in double figures with 18 points to go with nine rebounds. Sophomore Dylan Stevens was 5-for-7 from the floor to finish with 14 points, while sophomore Dylan Price scored 12 and first-year Tyler Thayer 11. Thayer, who added 10 boards to post a double-double, was named to the all-tournament team.
 
Both teams shot well from the floor, with Mitchell making 55.6 percent (40 of 72) of its tries, and Maine Maritime converting 49.2 percent (29 of 59).
 
Mitchell (1-1) forced 30 MMA turnovers with a stifling fullcourt press, which led to 22 fastbreak points.
