MBB Sweeps NECC Weekly Awards


ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's basketball team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Senior Parris Hill was named NECC Player of the Week while freshman Domenico Santiago was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners go 2-1 in league action last week with wins over Wheelock College and Lesley University.

Hill earned POW honors for the first time this season and sixth time in his career. Santiago nabbed his third ROW honor of the season, the most of any conference newcomer.

Hill averaged 27.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last week while shooting 75 percent (35-for-47) from the floor. He dropped in a season-high 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a win over Wheelock. He also posted a double-double against Daniel Webster College with 27 points and 10 boards, and in a win at Lesley he finished with 19 points and six rebounds in only 26 minutes.

Santiago averaged 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last week. He netted 15 points in each of Mitchell's wins, and he added a season-high 14 boards against Wheelock to post his fourth double-double of the season. He shot 67 percent from the floor for the week and also averaged 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.

Mitchell (3-8 overall, 2-3 NECC) will next host Regis College on Tuesday, January 19 at 6 p.m.
