MBB Falls at Becker


LEICESTER, Mass. - Becker College defeated Mitchell College 87-78 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action Tuesday evening at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The win lifted the Hawks' record to 12-9 (9-3 NECC) while the Mariners dipped to 7-12 (5-7 NECC).

The first 28 minutes of action was a back-and-forth affair as the teams exchanged the lead 10 times. After Parris Hill tied the game a 56-56, Becker went on an 11-0 run which was capped off by a Reginald Finney layup.

Mitchell was able to cut the Hawks' lead down to as little as five, but back-to-back three-pointers by Kareem Davis and Finney secured the victory.

Four of the Hawks starters finished in double figures. Kyle Credle went 11-of-13 from the charity stripe to finish with a team-high 20 points. Finney added 17 points while Davis chipped in with 16. Samuel Dorodola rounded out the Becker starters in double figures with 14 points. Nafis Streeter came off the bench to go 5-for-5 from the field to finish with 13 points.

Mitchell senior Donavan McClean tallied game highs of 30 points and 10 rebounds to record his fourth double-double of the season. It also marked his second 30-point game of the season and fifth of his career. Hill contributed 15 points while Brayvon Young added 12 points off the bench.

Becker returns to action on Thursday, February 11 with a road trip to Southern Vermont College at 7:00 p.m. Mitchell will next host Lesley University on Saturday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m.
