McClean Named NECC Player of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Donavan McClean was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

McClean earns the honor for the second time this season. He recorded back-to-back 30-point games in league play last week to lead Mitchell to a 1-1 record.

McClean netted a game-high 33 points on 10-for-16 shooting in a win over Lesley University and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Earlier in the week he poured in 30 points on 15-for-23 shooting at Becker College. He played in every minute of both games and averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest for the week while shooting 64 percent from the floor.

A starter in all 20 games this season, McClean is averaging 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. He currently ranks second in the NECC in scoring and fourth in field goals (159).

Mitchell (8-12 overall, 6-7 NECC) will play at Daniel Webster College on Tuesday, February 16 at 7 p.m.
