Offense Stalls for MBB in Final Minutes at Wheelock

BOSTON - The Mitchell College men's basketball team came up on the short end of a 61-57 final at Wheelock College on Thursday night in New England Collegiate Conference play.

Mack Bertram-Gregory led the Mariners with 15 points and shot 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Alan Morgan added 11 points and five assists while Domenico Santiago chipped in with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Mitchell led 31-30 at the break as the starting lineup accounted for 24 points, including seven by both Bertram-Gregory and Morgan. The score remained tight throughout the second half as neither team led by more than four. A bucket by Santiago put the Mariners ahead by two with 3:18 remaining, but it would be the last points for the visitors as they missed their final six field goal attempts.

Wheelock tied the game on a layup by Nicholas Fenton and pulled ahead for good on a free throw by Anthony Williams. Mitchell had a chance to either take the lead or tie the game on its next three possessions but came away empty each time.

Mitchell (0-11 overall, 0-3 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m.
