NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's basketball team dropped an 80-67 decision to Becker College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

Kyle Credle and Samuel Durodola netted 27 points apiece to lead the Hawks (10-5 overall), who remained unbeaten in NECC play at 6-0. Credle recorded a double-double with a game-high 15 rebounds while Durodola contributed eight boards and three blocks. Kareem Davis and Khairi Mosley also scored in double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Domenico Santiago paced the Mariners (2-13 overall, 2-5 NECC) with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Hasani Williams chipped in with 11 points while Alan Morgan and Geary McLeod each finished with 10.

Becker led by as many as 12 points in the opening stanza thanks to a monster first half from Durodola, who poured in 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting. The Hawks carried a 46-37 lead into intermission after shooting 56 percent as a team.

Mitchell bounced back in the second half to make it a game. The Mariners used an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 57-55 with 9:13 to play, with Williams providing six points during the stretch.

On the ensuing possession, Becker answered with a jumper by Mosley to pad the lead. The Mariners pulled within a score twice more over the next 3:00, but in each case the Hawks responded with points.

After a Mitchell bucket made it a three-point game with 6:21 to go, Credle took over and carried Becker to the finish. He scored 10 straight points over the next four possessions to put the game away, part of his 16 second-half points.

Becker shot 52 percent from the floor and held a 43-38 edge on the glass. Antonio White Jr. grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Hawks' cause.
