Williams Picks Up Third NECC Rookie Award

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Hasani Williams was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Williams recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Lesley University last week. He shot 6-for-8 from the floor and also blocked a pair of shots as the Mariners remained in the hunt for an NECC postseason berth.

It marked the third time this season that Williams has been tabbed the conference's rookie of the week (Jan. 9, 23). The 6-4 forward has started and played in all 22 games this season. He currently ranks fifth on the team in scoring at 10.0 points per game and second in rebounds at 8.0 per contest. His six double-doubles this season are the second most on the team.

Mitchell (5-17 overall, 5-8 NECC) will next host Daniel Webster College on Tuesday, February 14 at 5 p.m. The Mariners currently hold a half-game lead for the sixth and final berth in the upcoming NECC Championship.
