Sluggish Start to Florida Trip for MBB

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Mitchell College men's basketball team suffered a 116-59 setback to St. Thomas University on Tuesday night in non-conference play.

Hasani Williams scored 19 points to lead the Mariners (4-7 overall) while Domenico Santiago added 18 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Mitchell shot just 30 percent for the game while St. Thomas checked in at 64 percent. The Bobcats had six players score in double figures led by 19 points from Darwin Trotman.

St. Thomas (9-3 overall) led 55-31 at intermission after shooting 22-for-36 (61 percent) in the first half. However, the Bobcats outscored the Mariners 61-28 in the second half to break the game wide open. STU shot 67 percent in the second half to rack up a season-high point total.

Mitchell continues its Florida swing on Wednesday with a contest against Florida National University.
