MBB Tripped Up at Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. -- The Becker College men's basketball team prevailed 82-66 over visiting Mitchell College on Tuesday evening in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play on Tuesday night at the Leicester Gymnasium.

The Hawks finished with season highs in points, field goal percentage (.517) and three-point field goal percentage (.583). Kareem Davis led Becker with 24 points on 6-for-8 shooting from deep and added six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Dewayne Thomas scored 18 points with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks while Antonio White Jr. chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds in just 26 minutes off the bench.

Steffen Brunson led the Mariners with 17 points and eight rebounds while Hasani Williams added 13 points and a game-high nine boards. Landon Peabody turned in 10 points off the bench to round out the double-digit scorers.

Becker led just 41-37 at halftime but built the lead up to 11 just 6:35 into the second half. The Mariners countered with a 7-0 run to pull to back within four at 55-51 with 11:51 to go, but it would be as close as they would get. Becker finally pulled away with a 13-3 stretch capped off with a put-back layup from Thomas with 4:56 to go in the game, going ahead 73-58.

The Mariners (7-5 overall, 2-2 NECC) will play next on Thursday, January 10 when they travel to New England College for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
