MBB's Stokes Named NECC Rookie of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Alfonzo Stokes was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday morning.

Stokes netted a season-high 13 points in only nine minutes off the bench last week as the Mariners hosted Wentworth in non-conference action. He shot 5-for-5 from the field and made a pair of clutch baskets down the stretch. He also finished with a pair of assists and one rebound in the contest.

It marked the second time this season that Stokes has been recognized by the conference (Nov. 18). In four appearances he is averaging 8.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Mitchell (1-4 overall) will next host Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday, December 4 at 6 p.m.
