MBB Picks Up Road Win Over Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's basketball team picked up an 86-73 victory over Dean College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at Pieri Gymnasium. 

Hasani Williams netted a game-high 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting as Mitchell improved to 5-11 overall and 2-1 in league action. Matt Finke also turned in a solid game with 22 points and shot 4-for-6 from long range. The Mariners shot 56 percent from the floor as a team and went 18-for-21 from the free throw line.

Three Dean players finished in double digits led by 17 points from Jordan Lynch-Rexroth. Leading scorer Jordan Booker was limited to 14 points while D'caran Anderson chipped in 10.

The game was tied with five minutes remaining in the opening half when a three by Finke and a layup by Williams opened up a five-point Mitchell advantage. The Mariners went on to outscore the Bulldogs by a 19-11 margin before the halftime buzzer to lead 49-41 at the break.

A three by Anderson brought Dean within four in the early stages of the second half. However, Finke quickly responded with seven straight points as the Mariners pushed the advantage to double digits at 70-59 with 11:55 remaining. Mitchell led by double digits the rest of the way and went up by as many as 23 before the Bulldogs made a late push in the final minutes. 

Mitchell will next host Lesley University on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 p.m.
