Stokes Grabs Fourth NECC Rookie of the Week Nod

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Alfonzo Stokes was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.

Stokes averaged 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game last week as the Mariners split a pair of NECC road games. He netted 10 points and grabbed three rebounds at Becker College and finished with four points and a board in a win at Dean College.

It marked the fourth time this season that Stokes has been recognized by the conference (Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Jan. 6). In 13 games this season—all off the bench—he is averaging 6.3 points and 2.1 rebounds while playing in 11.7 minutes per contest.

Mitchell (5-11 overall, 2-1 NECC) will next host Lesley University on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 p.m.
