Williams, Finke Earn All-Conference Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Mitchell College seniors Hasani Williams and Matt Finke were among the men's basketball players recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday afternoon as the league announced its annual awards.

Williams was one of five players selected to the all-conference first team while Finke landed a spot on the second team. It marked the second all-conference nod for Williams (2018) and the first for Finke. All awards were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Williams, a four-year starter at forward, averaged team highs of 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in 23 regular season contests. He ranked third in the NECC in rebounding and sixth in scoring, and nine of his 19 double-digit scoring games came in league action.

Williams has played in 104 games while making 102 starts during his time at Mitchell. His 1,464 points are the fourth-most in school history, and his 42 career double-doubles are the eighth-most among all current NCAA Division III players.

Finke started all 25 regular season games and averaged career highs of 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest. The Mitchell guard ranked sixth in the NECC in both assists and three-point field goals (47) and eighth in scoring. He scored in double digits in 10 of 12 league games and recorded a total of 20 on the season.

Finke has appeared in 83 career games while making 54 starts. The majority of his 701 points and 120 three-pointers have come in the past two seasons when he cracked the starting lineup.

Mitchell (11-14 overall, 8-4 NECC) will next host a semifinal match-up in the 2020 NECC Championship on Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. The second-seeded Mariners will face the winner of the first-round game between third-seeded Eastern Nazarene College and sixth-seeded Becker College.
