WINTHROP, Mass. – Mitchell College freshman Elijah Miller (Ellington, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the sport of men's basketball, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Miller garnered the recognition for the first time in his collegiate career, and becomes the first Mitchell player to earn GNAC Rookie of the Week honors this season.

The first year guard averaged a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game, helping lead the Mariners to a 2-0 record on the week, including conference victories over Anna Maria College and New England College. Miller was efficient with the ball, shooting 46.2% from the floor and 50% from three-point range.

Miller began the week by filling the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals in a conference win over the AMCATS, shooting at a 50% clip from the floor (5-10). He then notched his first collegiate double-double on the road Saturday against the Pilgrims, notching 17 points and 12 rebounds, both career-high figures, while shooting 43.8% (7-16) from the floor and 50% (2-4) from downtown.

Entering the new week, Miller is averaging 6.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, and 1.4 assists per game during his freshman campaign.
