Men's Basketball Drops Final Road Game of the Regular Season

NASHUA, N.H. Devin Owens led five players in double figures with 22 points and Rivier connected on a dozen 3-pointers as the Raiders beat the Mitchell College men's basketball team 102-64 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.

Rivier improves to 14-10 overall and 6-8 in conference play while the Mariners drop to 7-17 overall and 4-9 in the GNAC.

Jaylyn Clardy (Pensacola, Fla.) led Mitchell with 17 points while Jayeson VanBeveren (Bristol, Conn.) added a career-high 10 points for the Mariners. 

Wilton Causey (Worcester, Mass.) led the Mariners with seven rebounds.

Rivier jumped out a quick 7-2 lead just 90 seconds into the game. The Raiders would later use a 9-1 run to take a 21-8 lead with 11:41 left in the opening half.

The Raiders would use another run, this time a 9-2 spurt pushing the lead to 36-16 with 6:02 left in the half. Rivier led 47-27 at the half.

Rivier scored 12 straight taking a 65-33 lead with 13:27 to put the game away.

The Raiders shot 58.1 percent (43 of 74) from the field and connected on 12 of 31 (38.7 percent) from behind the arc in the win.

Mitchell shot 39.4 percent (29 of 66) from the floor and were four of 14 from 3-point range.

The Mariners close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Norwich on Senior Day in a GNAC game at 1:00 while Rivier will host Fisher on Friday at 6:00.
