Clardy & Miller Earn All-GNAC Honors for Men’s Basketball

WINTHROP, Mass. – Two members of the Mitchell College men's basketball team earned All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. After averaging 20.0 points per game during his first season with the Mariners, junior Jaylyn Clardy (Pensacola, Fla.) was an All-Conference Third Team Selection, while freshman Elijah Miller (Ellington, Conn.) was one of five players to be named to the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Voting was conducted by the league's 15 men's basketball head coaches following the regular season and did not take postseason play into account.

Clardy's 20.0 points per contest ranked second in the conference overall, and places him ninth in the Division III era of the program in single season points per game. During GNAC action his play remained strong, as he averaged 18.8 points per game across 14 conference games. The junior added 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, while shooting 42.7% from the floor and 81.1% from the free-throw line. A consistent offensive contributor, Clardy scored in double figures in all but two of Mitchell's 25 games, recorded 20 or more points 12 times, and registered three double-doubles, including a 31-point, 10-rebound performance in a GNAC game against Emmanuel College.

The junior was named GNAC Player of the week on January 23rd after averaging 26 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while leading the Mariners to a 2-1 record, a performance which also earned him a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, just the fourth Mitchell player to ever earn the distinction.

A two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week, Elijah Miller used a strong second half of the season to carve out his spot as one of the most impactful freshman in the conference. Miller averaged 7.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while scoring in double-figures in five of the final six games for the Mariners. This included three straight double-doubles in conference play, and his 29 steals across 14 GNAC games ranked fifth in the conference.

Also representing the Mariners was junior Wilton Causey (Worcester, Mass.), who represented Mitchell on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
