Nichols Wins Bison Invitational

UXBRIDGE, Mass. – The Nichols College men’s golf team won its first Bison Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Blissful Meadows Country Club with a team score of 310. Nichols was led by junior Pat Pio (Somers, Conn.) and senior Chris Healy (Charlton, Mass.), who each fired a three-over-par 75 to lead the 43-player field. Pio prevailed in a one-hole playoff to take top medalist honors.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK- Mitchell College freshman Matt Burke (Northborough, Mass.) earned medalists honors at the Mariners Invitational with a top score of 74 for the one-round Par 71 Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Conn.

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 16, 2008 – Westfield State freshman Dan Korpita (Southampton, MA) tied for individual medalist honors with a round of 6-over par 77 and the Owls earned team medalist honors in the four-team Blazers Invitational men’s golf tournament hosted by Elms College at Chicopee Country Club.

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference men’s golf championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC’s head golf coaches.

Inaugural New England Collegiate Conference Golf Championships
CHICOPEE, Mass.-Saturday marked the first ever New England Collegiate Conference Championships play with the Springfield Pride taking the day one lead in the inaugural 2008 NECC Men's Golf Championships. The championships are being held by Elms College at the Chicopee Country Club with a Par 71 course measuring 6,742 yards.
