Men's Golf Finishes Third at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's golf team made its 2009 debut on Friday afternoon, finishing third in a quad match hosted by Nichols College at Dudley Hill Golf Course.

The Mariners posted a team total of 354. Nichols posted the low team round of the event at 304, followed by Anna Maria at 339, Mitchell and Elms College at 362. Nichols' Joe Gallagher shot an even par 72 to earn individual medalist honors.

Freshman Michael Baker carded the low round for the Mariners on the day, shooting 81 and finishing sixth overall in the field. Sophomore Tad Maynard also came through with a strong round at 88 and finished 14th. Rounding out the scoring for Mitchell were junior John Pescheta at 90 (15th), junior Matthew Chatell at 95 (16th) and sophomore Richard Palaia at 101 (17th).

Mitchell returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 at Becker College. Tee times begin at 12 p.m.
