Men's Golf Finishes Third at Becker Invitational

Final Results

LEICESTER, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's golf team finished third out of four teams at the Becker Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Leicester Country Club.

The Mariners shot 344 as a team, just three shots shy of runner-up status. Anna Maria College took team honors at 326 while Becker College came in second place at 341. Daniel Webster College rounded out the scoring at 363.

Sophomore Tad Maynard led the Mariners on the day with a season-low round of 79 over the par-70 course, good enough for a tie for third place overall. Freshman Michael Baker, who was named NECC Rookie of the Week on Monday, posted a round of 85.

Junior John Pescheta and sophomore Richard Palaia each carded season-low rounds as well at 89 and 95, respectively. Freshman Willard Visel rounded out the scoring with a 91 in his collegiate debut.

Mitchell returns to action on Saturday, September 26 at Anna Maria College. Tee times begin at 12 p.m. at Putterham Meadows Golf Course.
