Men's Golf Ties for Ninth Place at Blazers Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's golf team finished
tied for ninth place at the Blazers Invitational on Wednesday
afternoon, an event hosted by Elms College at Chicopee Country
Club.
Anna Maria golfer Nate McNamara shot a one-over par 72 to earn top
individual honors, while Westfield State earned a combined score of
319 to claim team honors. Westfield State's Derek Robichaud
finished second overall with a round of 74, while Bobby Greggerson
carded a 77 to claim third place.
Rhode Island College had all four of its scoring golfers place in
the top 20 for the day to finish second overall with a team score
of 329. Anna Maria and Franklin Pierce tallied scores of 331 to
earn a share of third place. Springfield (334), Becker (336), MCLA
(350), Elms (364) Emmanuel (367), Mitchell (367), Newbury (375) and
Daniel Webster (383) rounded out the 12-team field.
Freshman Willard Visel led the Mariners on the day with a
career-low round of 90, good enough for 36th place overall.
Junior John Pescheta was a shot behind at 91 and tied for 37th
while sophomore Tad Maynard came in at 92 and tied for 39th.
Sophomore Richard Palaia rounded out the scoring with a career-low
94 and finished 47th overall.
Mitchell will next compete at the ECAC Championships on Saturday
and Sunday, October 3-4. Saturday is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m.
start, while Sunday's golf will begin at 9:00 a.m.
