Mitchell Finishes Fourth in Home Event


GROTON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team hosted a quad match on Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.

Anna Maria College shot a team round of 321 to take the match. Rhode Island College (333), Nichols College (335) and Mitchell (381) rounded out the team standings. Anna Maria's Nathan McNamara carded the low individual round of the day, a six-over par 77 that was a shot better than teammate Christopher Kusz.

Kyle Harper led Rhode Island with a round of 80 to finish third overall while Nichols' Jake Hubley finished fourth at 81. Rounding out the top five were Nichols' John Juterbock and Anna Maria's Jeff Laframboise with rounds of 82.

Sophomore Justin Szela (Brooklyn, Conn.) put together the best round by a Mitchell golfer, shooting 85 to tie for ninth overall. Rounding out the scoring for the Mariners were seniors John Pescheta (94), Dan Varga (100), Matthew Chatell (102) and Marc Delprado (119).

Wednesday's match was Mitchell's final competition of the fall season.
