Men's Golf Opens Season at Newbury

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's golf team teed it up for the first time in 2012 on Monday afternoon in a tri-match against Newbury College and Becker College at Putterham Meadows.

Newbury posted the low team score of the day at 334, followed by Becker (360) and Mitchell (395). Newbury's B squad also competed and recorded a team total of 357.

The Mariners were led by freshman Max Jewett, who carded a round of 97 in his collegiate debut to finish 13th overall. Juniors Nick Braunreuther and John McGowan each tied for 14th with rounds of 99 while classmate Taylor Zaldivar and sophomore Joshua Muckle rounded out the scoring at 100 and 106, respectively.

Mitchell will be back in action on Wednesday, September 12 against Rhode Island College. The match will be hosted by the Mariners at Shennecossett Golf Course at 11 a.m.
