Men's Golf Falls to RIC


NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team dropped a head-to-head match against Rhode Island College on Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.

The Anchormen finished with a team total of 320 while the Mariners came in at 394.

RIC's Tim Leigh led all players with a four-over-par round of 75 and posted a pair of birdies on the day. Teammate Kyle Harper finished three shots behind at 78 while Jonathan Cooper fired a 79. Peter Camerlengo and Eddie Francis rounded out the scoring for RIC with scores of 88 and 94, respectively.

Freshman Max Jewett carded a round of 90 to lead the Mariners for the second straight outing. Junior Nick Braunreuther shot a 97 while classmate Taylor Zaldivar came in at 102. Sophomore Joshua Muckle and freshman Chris Heller capped the scoring with rounds of 105 and 109, respectively.

Mitchell will next compete at the Elms Invitational on September 26 at Westover Country Club. RIC will next play at MCAL on September 20.
