Men's Golf Competes at Newbury Invitational

STOW, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team turned in several strong individual performances at the Newbury Invitational on Friday afternoon at Wedgewood Pines Country Club.

Senior Michael Pinkerton led the Mariners on the day and tied for fifth overall with a round of 83, his best of the season. Junior Joshua Muckle and freshman Mark Cardi also shot thier lowest rounds of the season. Muckle tied for 17th overall at 87 while Cardi posted an 89 to finish tied for 21st. Seniors Chris Heller (104) and Nick Braunreuther (110) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners

Springfield College topped the six teams in the field with a team score of 329. The Pride's Kyle DiFranco took home medalist honors with a six-over-par round of 78. Babson College finished just six shots behind at 335, followed by Newbury College (340), Daniel Webster College (348), Becker College (357) and Mitchell (363).

The Mariners will next compete at Becker on Tuesday, September 24 at Leicester Country Club.
