Men's Golf Comes Up Short at Newbury

BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's golf team lost a dual match to Newbury College on Monday afternoon.

Newbury finished with a team toal of 354 while Mitchell checked in at 376. Newbury's Ray Lilley led the way to victory for the Nighthawks by turning in a team-low score of 81.

After a rough front nine, Lilley, who led the 10-player field with eight pars, shot an even-par 35 with two birdies on the back side. David Hart was not far behind, carding an 85 on the day which included a three-over par 39 on the front nine.

Mitchell freshman Mark Cardi led the way for the Mariners, carding a season-low round of 88 and finishing second. Cardi tied senior Michael Pinkerton with a team-high five pars on the afternoon. Pinkerton finished fourth overall with an 89 on the afternoon.

Mitchell returns to the links on Wednesday, October 2 when it travels to Westover Golf Club for the Elms College Blazer Invitational.
