Newbury Tops Men's Golf
GROTON, Conn. – The Newbury College men's golf team won a head-to-head matchup with Mitchell College on Wednesday afternoon by a 332-367 final at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Newbury's David Hart and Daniel Lumb each carded an 81 to tie for low round of the day. Hart led the field with 11 pars while Lumb had eight and also turned in a pair of birdies.
The rest of the Nighthawks were close behind. Ray Lilley recorded two birdies and turned in an 84 while Kevin Fitzpatrick and Anthony Bonelli finished at 86 and 88, respectively.
Michael Pinkerton shot 82 to lead the Mariners. His highlight of the round came on the par-3 fourth when he chipped in from just off the green for birdie.
Playing in the same foursome, Mark Cardi and Chris Heller turned in rounds of 91 and 94, respectively. Joshua Muckle finished at 100 while Orson Sinclair rounded out the scoring at 128.
