Men's Golf Opens Season vs. Newbury, Daniel Webster


BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's golf team opened the 2014 season against Newbury College and Daniel Webster College on Monday afternoon at Robert T. Lynch Golf Course.

The Newbury squad finished first with a team score of 330 while Daniel Webster came in next at 356. The Mariners had two players withdraw during the competition and did not finish with a team score.

Newbury's Danny Lumb and Stephen Peltier earned co-medalist honors, turning in the day's low-round of an 82. The Nighthawks dominated on the par fours with a consistent Lumb (with 10 pars on the day) leading the way at six-over. Anthony Bonelli, who turned in a career-low score of an 83, was right behind Lumb registering nine pars and tying him with Cameron D'Agostino.

David Hart responded from a rocky front nine to fire 41 on the back to finish with an 87 in addition to leading the field at one-over on the par threes along with Peltier and D'Agostino.

Clint Goodwin led Daniel Webster, turning in a team-low of an 86 along with Josh Sigman to finish tied for fifth on the day.

Senior Joshua Muckle led the Mariners with a score of 103. Junior Matt Grudgen (105) and senior Chris Heller (110) rounded out the Mitchell scoring.
