Men's Golf Finishes Third at Quad Match

BOSTON -- The Mitchell College men's golf team finished third overall in a quad match hosted by Emmanuel College on Monday afternoon at William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park.

Suffolk University posted the low team round of the day at 331. Emmanuel (342), Mitchell (363) and Becker College (381) rounded out the field.

Suffolk's Matt Rosenberg shot the low round of the day, recording a one-over par total of 71. Teammate Mike Rockwell was nine shots back at 80 while Mitchell senior Joshua Muckle finished third at 83.

Muckle shot 41 on the front nine and came in at 42 on the back, securing the lowest round of his collegiate career as well as the lowest by a Mitchell golfer this season. Junior Matt Grudgen also posted his low round of the season with a 91. Rounding out the scores for the Mariners were Michael Pinkerton (94), Chris Heller (95) and Ryan Swarts (99).

The match served as a tune-up for the New England Collegiate Conference Championship, which will be held this weekend at Stowe Acres Country Club in Stow, Mass. The opening round tees off on Saturday, October 4.
