Men's Golf in Seventh After First Round of NECC Championship

STOW, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team finished the first round of the NECC Championship in seventh place on Saturday afternoon at Stow Acres Country Club.

Babson College leads the field of seven with a team total of 309 in the opening round, two shots ahead of Elms College. The two schools accounted for the top four individual scores on the day, as Babson's Kyle Alexander shot a round of 75 while teammate Ian Notkin and Elms' Chris Miele and Mike Fleury all carded rounds of 76.

Mitchell recorded a team total of 411. Joshua Muckle and Matt Grudgen each posted rounds of 101 to lead the Mariners.

The NECC Championship will conclude with a round of 18 holes on Sunday, October 5.
