Men's Golf Ties for 10th at Nighthawks Invitational


BOSTON – The Mitchell College men's golf team finished tied for 10th at the Nighthawks Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at William J. Devine Golf Course.

Mitchell College freshman Andrew Abbott finished one shot behind Tufts University's Aaron Corn and Owen Elliott for medalist honors. Corn and Elliott each shot an ever-par 70 to lead the Jumbos to the low team score for the tournament at 287. Babson College finished second with a team score of 297 while Nichols College placed third at 303.

Abbott carded four birdies in his round, tying Corn for the most in the 56-player field. He also paced the Mariners on the day with 10 pars.

Freshman Matt Shea shot 81 and tied for 26th overall. Sophomore Andres Sprick checked in with a 93 while classmate Ryan Swarts and junior Eric Davey posted scores of 105 and 130, respectively.

Mitchell will next compete at the Blazers Invitational on September 26-27 at Elmcrest Country Club. Play will begin at 10 a.m. on each day.
