Men's Golf Completes Day 1 at NECC Championship

STOW, Mass. - Mitchell College is in seventh place after the first round of play at the 2015 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday at Stow Acres Country Club.

Babson College leads the field of seven teams with a team score of 313 and leads Elms College by 13 strokes. Babson's Riley Whitham shot a one-over par 73 and has a three-shot lead over Elms' Brian Benson heading into the final round.

Freshman Matt Shea led Mitchell (390) with a round of 88 and is tied for 17th overall. Sophomore Andres Sprick (99), senior Matt Grudgen (100) and sophomore Ryan Swarts (103) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.

The NECC Championship will conclude with a final round of 18 holes on Sunday at Stow Acres.
