Men's Golf Finishes Second in Season Finale


GROTON, Conn. – Becker College shot a team round of 333 to win the Mitchell Invitational on Monday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.

MacGregor Howey carded the low round of the day to propel the Hawks to victory. The Becker sophomore shot a one-over par 72 and finished his round with 15 pars and one birdie.

Howey finished seven shots ahead of teammate Brittain Morris, who tied with Albertus Magnus College's Aaron Macchia for runner-up honors. Mitchell College freshmen Andrew Abbott and Matt Shea rounded out the top five individuals.

Mitchell placed second with a team score of 353 while AMC was four shots back at 357.

For the Mariners, senior Matt Grudgen shot a round of 92 in the final tournament of his collegiate career. Ryan Swarts (99) and Eric Davey (114) rounded out the scoring for Mitchell.
